These engines do wear the MTU brand on the valve covers and are manufactured by MTU.

Ready to be Placed in Service

The 1000 kW, 400 kW, and 200 kW generators are all housed in sound attenuated enclosures. These generators are ready to be set on flat level ground and connected to the utility grid to meet standby power requirements. Engine, radiator, and alternator (generator end) are all mounted on a framework design inside the container.

The included fuel tank in all model sizes allows these units to be a turn-key purchase. Once they are set on flat level ground, they are ready to be connected to the load to supply power. Some of the features of the enclosure are:

Enclosure Standard Features
- Steel enclosures are constructed of 14-gauge steel or greater. Aluminum enclosures constructed of 0.09 thickness or greater.
- Removable access doors with powder coated hinges and stainless-steel pins.
- Rain shroud and rain cap.
- Internal hospital grade silencer.
- Exhaust scoop access panel where applicable.
Fuel Tank Sub-Base Standard Features
- UL 142 listed, ULC-S601.
- Normal and emergency tank vents.
- Fuel level gauge equipped with electronic sending unit.

MTU 3000 kW Generator Set

This generator is used in an under-roof or indoor application. The engine, alternator (generator end), and radiator are mounted on a skid style framework. After the generator is placed on a surface that will support the operational weight, the following systems must have external connections:

Intake Air - Air cleaner must be connected to intake air tubing
Exhaust - Muffler must be connected to exhaust manifold
Fuel - Engine fuel system is connected to a primary or day tank fueling tank arrangement

After the common systems are connected, the generator output can be connected to the Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) and ready to assume large electrical load requirements. These are a fantastic solution for an industry that has suffered voluntary power shutdowns.

MTU Series 4000 Engine

In 1996, the MTU 4000 Series engine was introduced to the public. They are equipped with the popular common rail fuel system. Common rail fuel systems are capable of pressures of 1900 bar (28,000 psi). The engine configuration is a V20 design. More than 37,000 engines have accumulated over 180 million hours of operation. With planned maintenance, engines are able to last up to 60,000 hours of operation. MTU produced turbochargers ensure full power at 4000 meters (13, 123 ft).

Common rail fuel systems are capable of pressures of 1900 bar (28,000 psi). All engine fueling functions are controlled by an electronic governor. The cooling system boasts a jack water pump and an aftercooler water pump for maximum cooling efficiency.
