Industry

Each community treats water differently to make it safe for drinking water. Surface water, such as rivers and lakes, contain sediments and pollutants and are more likely to be contaminated than groundwater. Some of the filtration steps can include:
  • Coagulation and Flocculation - First steps of surface water treatment. Floc is created by inserting chemicals with a positive charge into the water
  • Sedimentation - Floc settling to the bottom of the water supply
  • Filtration - Clean water passes through filters of various media sizes to remove dissolved particles, such as dust, parasites, bacteria, viruses, and chemicals
  • Disinfection - a disinfectant may be added to kill remaining parasites, bacteria, and viruses and to protect the water from germs
Surface and groundwater treatment facilities share one thing in common: the need for dependable power supply. Customers will not receive water services when utility power fails if  dependable backup power is not available

Services ProvidedLoad Testing Cummins 275 kW Generator

The Cummins 275 kW generator is on a calendar maintenance schedule. Every quarter (3-month intervals) the generator must be inspected and have various tasks performed.

The client added a generator load test to the inspection. This test establishes the generators ability to accept a load.

Quarterly Maintenance Checks Performed:
  • Perform visual inspection
  • Load test engine start battery
  • Collect oil and coolant sample to have an analysis performed
  • Start and load test generator
  • Inspect the generator while the engine is running
  • Shut down the generator after the engine reaches operating temperature
  • Close generator breaker
After the quarterly maintenance inspection and testing services were completed, the generator was placed into Auto operation. Now it is ready to assume the load during the next utility power outage.
